INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY IN PULAThis April Pula becomes part of the international movement and joins the elite society of cities that celebrate the International Jazz Day! The first "Jazz festivity" event is signed by Association Cultural Initiative, with the support of the City of Pula and the Pula Tourist Board.
In November 2011, the UNESCO World Conference signifying the Importance of Jazz Music in World Culture Development, announced the date April 30th as the International Jazz Day.
Created to attract attention to jazz as a phenomenon that promotes mutual understanding among people, this year the International Jazz Day is celebrated through 263 events in 81 countries, including Croatia.
On April 30th, starting at 20:00, the big hall of the House of Croatian Defenders will be imbued by the sense of inexplicable pleasure and complete relaxation, conducted by a colorful company of world known artists. Roy Young from Jamaica and Oleg Kireyev from Russia enhanced with native forces: Dušan Kranjac, Nenad Mirt, Zvjezdana Ružić and others.

ROY YOUNG (JAZZ, SOUL, VOCAL) JAMAIKA
Roy Young is an explosive soul singer with a truly unique and unforgettable voice! Born in the hills of Jamaica in a shanty with no running water or electricity, Roy's love for soul music started at a very early age. He moved to England at the age of 13, and two years later he dropped out of school to go on the road with a nine-piece band. Roy Young has a unique and distinct voice. His phrasing and approach to the songs will blow you away. Definitely, one of the greatest vocal talents of our time.
OLEG KIREYEV (SAXOPHONE, JAZZ) RUSSIA
Kireyev lives and works between Europe and New York. His discography includes fifteen albums of different jazz music genres. Born in Baškirija (Ural, Russia), started his music career with jazz music including elements of Baška folk music at the turn of the 80s and 90s. He attended jazz school working for several years in Poland, and the homeland of jazz – America – conquested with the ethno-jazz project "Feng Shui Jazz Theater". For this project he also received his first Grammy nomination in 2008.
Like many great jazz musicians, Oleg is not afraid to experiment with classical jazz with a small band, developing parallel projects in the field of ethno jazz, world music and smooth jazz that allow him to remain discerned in a very diverse audience.
